Celebrity Twitters

Twitter is not only a popular online social media network, but it is one of the fastest growing networks out there today. It’s a real time communication network, allowing people to keep up with their friends, their co-workers, their social groups and, yes, even celebrities. Because it’s so easy to send your tweet message to Twitter via the internet, or even your cell phone, even celebrities have picked it up as a way to keep their fans up to date on the happenings in their lives. Many celebrities use Twitter accounts just for business related things. That includes everything from release dates, to public appearances, and even special contests for their fans and Twitter followers.

Some celebrities, however, go even a step beyond, and allow their fans to see them on a more personal level, tweeting about more typical things like what they’re having for lunch, the things they care about, or just how they’re spending their evening. These are the sorts of things that fans are really looking to see in a time where celebrities seem to be more accessible to their fans than ever.

So who’s tweeting what? If you’re already a member of the Twitter community, or even if you’re not, and are looking to see what your favorite celebrities are up to but have no idea where to start, I’ve compiled a list of 10 celebrities that I feel are worth a Twitter follow.

@JustinBieber — Justin Bieber is no stranger to the power of major websites as this young musician was discovered through videos he had posted on YouTube. Bieber keeps up the tradition of his online networking by keeping his fans up-to-date on his life while he tours and rides the waves of his crazy career via Twitter. Tweeting and re-tweeting some of his over 13 million followers is also not unheard of for this young star. (Justin Biber’s girlfriend, Selena Gomez, also uses Twitter under the name @selenagomez.)

@aplusk — With over seven million followers, Ashton Kutcher has made quite the name for himself on Twitter. He spends a lot of time talking to his fans, joking around, and talking about his newest project Two and a Half Men. (His predecessor, Charlie Sheen, also tweets under the account @charliesheen).

@NikkiSixx — Nikki Sixx, a founding member of the band Motley Crüe (the other founding member, Tommy Lee, also uses Twitter under the name @MrTommyLand), spends a lot of time talking on Twitter with and to his fans about the everyday goings on of his life. @tylerperry — Tyler Perry, best known for the creation and acting in the Mabel (Madea) Simmons movies, uses his Twitter account to connect with his followers and keep everyone up-to-date with what he’s working on, including his television show House of Payne. @AvrilLavigne — According to her Twitter bio, she’s a professional rocker from outer space. Actually, she’s from Canada, but she rocks Twitter with tweets about her current tour, as well as her clothing and fragrance lines. She’s also great about letting her fans in on her life through behind-the-scenes pictures and videos!

@frankiemuniz — Frankie Muniz is best known for his role as Malcolm on Malcolm in the Middle, a show that first aired in 2000 and ran for the next six years. Muniz is now the drummer in a band called You Hang Up, but tweets a little about that, and mostly random life happenings.

@BlakeShelton — For all of you country music fans, Blake Shelton uses his Twitter account to keep his fans up-to-date on his life as he juggles his own music career, the hit show The Voice on which he is a celebrity judge, and the marriage to his beautiful wife, Miranda Lambert (@Miranda_Lambert).

@VanillaIce — Vanilla Ice, legally Robert Matthew Van Winkle, was made popular in the early nineties with his hit Ice, Ice Baby. Vanilla Ice uses his Twitter account to connect with his fans, promote his latest album W.T.F., and even sometimes talks about his home improvement show, The Vanilla Ice Project. He is constantly tweeting, talking with his fans, and keeping them in the know. If you’re looking for positivity, he’s the one to follow.
