Castle “Kick the Ballistics” in Review

In the episode “Kick The Ballistics” the gun that the triple killer stole from Detective Ryan last season ends up being used in murder. A college student is found dead, killed by a gunshot. The episode was a Ryan centric episode and Seamus Dever (Detective Ryan) hit it out of the park. Dever was fantastic in the episode and did a wonderful job of playing a Cop whose weapon was used to commit murder. It was nice to see Ryan have a bigger role in an episode. What we need now is an Detective Esposito centric episode.

The episode was a bit darker then a normal Castle episode, even the opening title reflected that. What was also great about the episode was that it showed us just how much of a team Beckett, Ryan, Esposito and Castle really are.

The next part of this review contains some spoilers to those who haven’t seen the episode yet.

The triple killer didn’t make an appearance in the episode however; as it turned out he gave his gun to someone else. So the triple killer is still out there. Maybe they will get back to him later in the season. The triple killer gave Ryan’s gun to someone he was in prison with to set the guy up. It turns out that the victim was killed by her boyfriend’s brother, because the victim and her boyfriend were going to run away together, and get away from his family, which was involved, in the Chinese mob.

When the brother gets arrested for murder he tries to make a deal with the cops that he will tell them what identity the triple killer is using and where he is. Castle says it sounds like a set up and that the triple killer wouldn’t be so careless as to tell someone his new Identity so Castle tells Beckett not to take the deal, and she doesn’t.

Castle airs Monday Nights on ABC at 10pm
