Black Friday Madness: Avoid it by Shopping Online

The Friday after Thanksgiving has come to be known as “Black Friday”. This day is considered the official start of the Christmas shopping season and is the day when many retailers open their doors at insanely early hours for shoppers to take advantage of ridiculously good deals on selected merchandise. These sales usually last for a very limited time, and quantities of certain items in high demand can be very limited. Thus, chaos ensues. This is an extremely important day for retailers, since this one day brings in approximately 20% of their entire sales for the year, every year.

I am not one to find myself getting up any earlier than I have to on a day when my children have no school and I am still suffering from turkey coma. I opt to sleep in, figuring there’s nothing I want that much that can’t wait a few hours, or another day. However, many people get up at the crack of dawn or even camp out over night to be first in line at the door as the stores open. They are left to deal with crowded stores and pushy people, all clamoring for the same items they are.

So how can you take advantage of these great deals while avoiding all the pandemonium of fighting Black Friday crowds? Shop online for Black Friday deals from the comfort of your own home. Many retailers are offering online only deals this year that begin prior to Black Friday, as well as on that day. Also, several retailers are continuing great sales deals into Cyber Monday, the Monday following Thanksgiving.

By doing a little research online, you might be able to find the deals you’re seeking without ever having to leave the house. Happy Holidays, and happy shopping!
