Bible Verses that Inspire Me

There are so many scriptures that we can choose from. The Word of God is so powerful that it is hard to just pick a few. I want to start out with one that I love and hold on to through many situations.Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Many people that are close to me know that this is my favorite scripture in the world. I always stand on this scripture because I know if I am always pleasing to the Lord, He will give me my heart’s desire. At one time in my life, I asked the Lord “how do I know that the desires of my heart are Your will?” For a long time that question lingered and I needed an answer before I can truly believe that Scripture. It was that important to me.

Then one day, the Lord answered my question through a friend of mine. They simply stated that those desires in your heart were put there by the Lord before you ever realize that they are there. God knows our heart; we just think that we do. So now I feel at ease but I am confident that these things that I have a deep passion for are really desires that the Lord has placed there, for His purpose and in His time.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

I have always heard that we should never pray for patient. I can honestly say that I have never prayed for it, yet I feel that over the past few years my patience has really grown. I am not the same person that I was even 4 years ago. Because of this scripture I have turned into a completely different person. It also tells me that I must continue on with the things that make me weary like the woes of everyday life.

In the end, if I am patient and I have grown weary and given up, the Lord will strengthen me and lift me up. He has done this every time and each time He does, I rise above even higher than the last time. I have learned that with each trial there is a greater reward after it, because I am on the Lord’s WINNING side.

41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Luke 1

This passage is amazing to me. It tells me that John the Baptist knew who Mary was while he was still in his mother’s womb. Elisabeth knew as well. It amazes me because for them to know, the Holy Ghost had to show them. Although Mary was indeed the mother of Jesus, she was still a young humble girl, willing to be obedient to God and her calling in life. What an absolute privilege and honor. John the Baptist was also a humble and willing servant who knew his purpose before he was even born. I love the story of John the Baptist. Then Peter said unto them Repent and be baptized everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sin and ye shall receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38

Before I truly repented to the Lord, I had been running from Him and my calling which took me down a mentally destructive path and landed me in a hospital for 9 days. Right before then, I had repented and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with speaking in other tongues and I learned about this later on as I was searching the Scriptures. I had spoke in another language while praying at my bedside and I didn’t know what had happened until later.

When I got out of the hospital, I continued to seek the Lord and He showed me what the next step was and that was to be baptized in Jesus name, according to Acts 2:38. This was a complete revelation for me and an important step in my spiritual journey.

He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. John 1:10

This scripture really shows us one thing. It simply means that Jesus is God. Many religions want to separate Him into three entities, when God has many manifestations. Jesus is one of the manifestations of God. When the Apostles saw Jesus, they were looking into the face of God Almighty. The entire chapter of John 1 is very insightful for this revelation, as well as John 8.
