Baseball Postseason Poem

The regular season has come to an end,
But do not despair, my baseball friend.
For the next few weeks, eight teams will play
To see who will become the ruler of the day.

We had two gut-wrenching wild card chases
To keep us interested in the pennant races.
The Cardinals and Rays came from many game behind
And to their playoff opposition, they will be unkind.

The Phillies and Tigers clinched their divisions early;
The Rangers’ and Diamondbacks’ races did not go so surely.
The Brewers ran away with the NL Central division
While many other teams were objects of derision.

The Braves and Red Sox became playoff snubs,
But they had their chances, unlike my beloved Cubs.
We had an exciting finish to the 2011 season,
And for more cheering the playoffs give us reason.

The playoffs are here, and the games will be exciting,
Intense, riveting, and immensely inviting.
At this time, fans offer predictions and queries,
But do not worry —
The New York Yankees will win the World Series!
