A list of the top 5 movies in any genre is difficult. There are the movies that you cry about and those that are so funny that you have to watch them over and over again. Let’s touch base with the latter and see what we can come up with. Though there are already lists of top comedy movies, what follows is just an opinion of this writer.
1. Nacho Libre-(2006)-“Get that corn out of my face!” A young Mexican love for wrestling leads him to places that are of sin. A devout catholic, his inner turmoil helps him bring out the wrestler in him. He is faced with this dilemma throughout the movie and finally brings out the best of him in the end.
2. Napolean Dynamite (2004)’””That’s like a dollar an hour” A young man living in Iowa has problems at school and at home. He and his friend are made fun of and the family seems to be living in the past. The movie is a little “slower” than most but still a great watch. Same director as Nacho Libre.
3. Coming to America (1988)-“When you think of Garbage think of Akeem!” A wealthy African and his assistant migrate to the United States to meet his queen. They relocate to Queens, NY in order for his wish to be fulfilled. Here, people treat them as peons but Akeem is adamant to live this way.
4. Meet the parents (2000) – “Gaylord Focker?” When Greg Focker comes to visit his future in-laws it is only a matter of time before things start go crazy. He has to try to get in the inner circle.
5. Zoolander (2001)- This has to be one of the best comedic movies ever made. Anyone who has not watched should indeed do so ASAP. Two incredible looking male supermodels go at it to see who is the best model on the planet.
There are extremely great movies out there that can easily make this simple list. Each viewer will have his opinion as to what movies should make it. This is list will surely have at a least one reader’s favorite.
