The day was lovely and I wanted to go,
Up the mountain – we drove very slow.
We parked the car and walked a few feet,
And what a sight that we did we meet!
The view was wonderful to be sure,
We saw the town and saw the shore.
We saw the islands in the distance,
And smelled the ocean’s lovely fragrance.
The lighthouses were in view,
And schooners were sailing in a queue.
I looked and looked and looked some more,
Along this very lovely shore.
If you are in Maine, you must see,
Mount Battie and the view of the sea.
You won’t be sorry you drove to the top,
Once you’re there you just won’t stop.
