A Review of Chi Chis Salsa Chicken Fiesta Plate: Only 260 Calories

Recently, I discovered Chi Chi’s Salsa Chicken Fiesta Plate for one in the unrefrigerated dinners section of my local favorite grocery store. This meal looked good and the price was right. I decided to purchase it, try it out and write a product review all about my experience with it. Here is what I discovered!

I bought one Chi Chi’s Salsa Chicken Fiesta Plate for a bit over two dollars. Not a bad price. I like many of Chi Chi’s meals and this one looked quite promising. It has chicken strips, rice, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, peppers, garlic, lime juice and many other ingredients in it. That all sounded great to me. I discovered that this dish has lots of protein in it. Fantastic! It is also microwave friendly. I could not wait to taste it!

Yes, this dinner is perfect for microwave cooking and that is how I decided to prepare it. I cut a few slits in the film cover, cooked on high for one minute, let stand for one minute, uncovered, stirred and served. This dish looked marvelous. It smelled good. When I tasted it, I liked it. It has lots of chicken in it and I enjoyed. The rice is tender. There is also lots of gravy in this meal and that is nice. Still, this one is missing something flavor wise. I tried adding sour cream and that did make it much better. The salsa flavor is not very strong. I was expecting a bit more flavor, I have to admit. On the bright side, this dinner is hearty and filling. I rate Chi Chi’s Salsa Chicken Fiesta Plate three stars out of five stars. I won’t be buying it again, but it was good and fun to try.

This dinner has 260 calories in it. 90 of those calories come from fat. It has 10 grams of total fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 40 mg’s of cholesterol, 720 mg’s of sodium, 26 grams of total carbs, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 5 grams of sugars and 17 grams of protein. Wow. Protein packed. This meal has lots of spices in it, so I could not understand why it tasted a bit bland. This meal has tiny amounts of iron, vitamins A and C in it.

I liked trying Chi Chi’s Salsa Chicken Fiesta Plate and writing a product review about it. I have to admit that it did disappoint me. Many other Chi Chi’s meals are much better than this one, in my opinion. Their garlic chicken dish is fabulous. Well, I guess they all can’t be winners. This is a Hormel distributed meal.
