A Good Night Sleep Without Those Potentially Harmful Medications

Since the beginning of time, man has been in pursuit of some remedy to ease many of his aches and pains. In researching the sleep problem in this country, I was astonished to learn that billions and billions of dollars spent annually in our quest for a good night’s sleep (due to copyright laws I cannot identify my sources, however, they are on the Internet).

With this in mind, it occurred to me that if this trend continues, eventually only folks with money will be able to sleep. On any given day, you can visit most any household in this country, rich or poor and find someone with a sleep problem.

I also found that due to sleep deprivation, billions of dollars are lost because of work related accidents.

Another glaring and sad statistic is the number of deaths on our highways and byways because of sleep problems in one form or the other.

In our weak economy, many among us cannot afford to purchase supplies of sleeping medications. Nonetheless, if we have a job, we must attempt to go whether we had sufficient sleep or not.

Sleep deprivation seems to be an on going problem, are we using the right approach in our attempt to deal with it? The more pills we take, it seems as though the more we need. Is the medical community taking us all on a never-ending ride to enrich their coffers?

When I see some of those commercials on television wherein a person has taken a certain pill and appears to be in sleep heaven, I am skeptical about their claim.

Everyone desires to sleep like that so we run out and purchase what we see. In many cases, we are worst off than before. I just love all of those warnings on most medicines, you know, where they warn us that we may encounter other problems if we take their medicine.

At this time, I must get to my point. It is a fact that everyone cannot afford to purchase all the recommended medication that would assist us in our quest for sleep.

Therefore, we must apply the poor man’s method. If I know that I cannot afford something and need it desperately, I must find ways to help my cause.

The mind is a very complex thing. I have discovered that the mind causes us to view things from at least two perspectives. For example, you may decide to wear your green tie today, as soon as you open the closet your mind will drift toward the orange one, the plaid one, etc.

When I observe myself in the mirror, I wonder how I let my mind trick me into eating so much. I vividly recall telling myself that I was going to cut back.

Then a little light came on. It seems as though whatever I decide to do my mind will compel me to do something else. Okay mind let us get it on.

I have been having sleep problems for years. One night I thought I would try to trick my mind. Do not laugh this is true. Do not knock it until you have tried it.

I got into bed and told myself that I was just going to sit in this bed all night long and stay awake. My mind, being what it is, was not having any of that. I woke up the next morning feeling quite refreshed.

You may think this is a joke, but try it sometime and you may get that good night sleep you have been craving.
