Valentine, Nebraska, is not named after the celebrated holiday, but it is a wonderful location to spend a romantic getaway with your honey. Named after a congressman from the 1800’s, Valentine, Nebraska is a quaint, small town near the Niobrara River Valley and north of the Sand Hills. Downtown Valentine has art and crafts shops, bookstores, and one of the largest western wear stores in the area to explore. Take a stroll or bike ride on the Cowboy Trail to view the Niobrara Scenic River, see the tallest waterfall in Nebraska at Smith Falls State Park, or go to a ball at the city’s February 14th coronation of the King and Queen of Hearts.
With small town hospitality, you can find accommodations to match, like lodges and B&B’s. Simple, serene, and down-home romance is what you will find in Valentine, Nebraska.
2. Dearborn, Michigan
So, what is in the Detroit, Michigan area that would be considered romantic? I would begin at The Dearborn Inn, built in 1931 on the grounds of the Ford Motor Company. In a setting reminiscent of an American inn, this Dearborn, Michigan hotel has a unique array of accommodations that include the Main Inn, two Colonial lodges, and five Colonial guest homes. The Colonial guest homes are very unique, one in particular, the Edgar Allen Poe suite, is quaint and ideal for a romantic night. 4. Cleveland, Ohio
Cleveland, Ohio may also be on the bottom of your list of romantic destinations, but you would be surprised on what they can offer.
