5 Connecticut Pick Your Own Farms for Fall Harvesting

Fall is the best season of the year. It’s time for a trip to a pick your own farm. In Connecticut, we have many to choose from. These orchards are in the most picturesque locations so bring your camera. Many farms also have fun weekend activities, like hayrides and corn mazes.

Lyman Orchards is located at 32 Reeds Gap Rd., Middlefield. They have the famous patriotic corn maze. Horse drawn wagon rides and pony rides are available fall weekends. You can pick apples, peaches, pears and pumpkins. Visit their website for the latest picking hours and coupons. Leave some time for the Apple Barrel store. It has local produce and baked goods. They are known for their pies and apple cider donuts. Store hours are 9am-7pm.

Belltown Hill Orchards is in South Glastonbury on 483 Matson Hill Road. Enjoy the view from the orchards and the wagon rides. You can pick your own cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, berries, apples, pears and pumpkins. Stop by their market for produce and other tasty treats. The concession stand has picnic tables and serves hot apple fritters and more. The farm is open Monday through Friday 9am-5:30pm, Saturday & Sunday 8am-5:30pm.

Easy Pickin’s Orchard has pick your own apples, peaches, plums, pears, berries, vegetables, pumpkins and herbs. All of the apples can be picked from ground level to six feet. They have fun activities that the kids will love. The farm is located at 46 Bailey Road, Enfield. They are open Monday through Thursday 9am-12pm, Friday, weekends and holidays 9am-5pm.

Rogers Orchard has two Southington locations: 336 Long Bottom Road and 2876 Meriden Waterbury Tpke. They have a wide variety of pick your own apples. It’s all done easily from the ground and you can mix your apples. The retail store sells their produce, corn and other vegetables. The bakery has fruit pies, apple cider donuts, coffee cakes, and cookies. The store is open daily from 8am-5pm. Pick your own begins Labor Day weekend on Fridays and weekends from 10am-5pm.

Pickin’ Patch is at 279 Nod Rd, Avon. You’ll see endless picking fields of beans, squash, zucchini, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, basil, lettuce, cucumbers, pumpkins and gourds. Take a moment to enjoy the scenery. They have a retail store which features their own corn, tomatoes, peaches and plums. On weekends, they sometimes offer hayrides. They’re open weekdays: 9am-6pm and weekends: 8am-6pm.
