Given the amount of influence social networking has in today’s society, it is hard to believe that any celebrities would choose not to have Facebook pages. However, more and more celebrities are choosing to abstain from Facebook. They cite a variety of reasons for having no Facebook, such as privacy issues, time management and annoying friend requests. So, if you were thinking of sending those annoying friend requests to one or more of the following celebrities, you’ll have to find a new and more clever way to stalk them.
George Clooney
Don’t expect this dashing star to be getting a celebrity Facebook page very soon. In an interview at the Toronto Film Festival, Clooney admitted ” “I would rather have a prostate exam on live television by a guy with very cold hands than have a Facebook page.”
Jesse Eisenberg
He may have played Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in the film The Social Network, but that doesn’t mean Jesse Eisenberg wants to have a celebrity Facebook page of his own. Although Eisenberg didn’t say he’d prefer awkward medical procedures to getting an account, he did have a good reason for avoiding the site: ” [I] don’t want to go home and write about the breakfast I tried to eat.”
Robert Pattinson
Sorry Twi-hards. Robert Pattinson has no Facebook, MySpace or Twitter. In fact, the Twilight heartthrob doesn’t even have his own website. Pattinson reportedly hates the internet in general, and especially sites like Facebook and Twitter. He believes in retaining as much privacy as possible, something much easier to do when you don’t have a celebrity Facebook page.
Kristen Stewart
Looks like to two Twilight stars have more in common than their popular films. Kristen Stewart is notorious for her discomfort in the media spotlight. She told the Scotland Daily record that the lack of privacy made Facebook and Twitter unappealing. She also noted that her friends ” are constantly being plagued because they somehow find out I’m friends with them and then the impostors try to go and message my brother pretending they are me. My brother and friends always complain to me about it.”
Blake Lively
Gossip Girls is all about the social networking of New York’s elite girls, but Blake Lively is not on Facebook in real life. When asked whether she was on Facebook, Blake Lively replied ” No, I’m not. But there are enough people who pretend to be Blake Lively. I was recently told that I had been online on Facebook. I just said ‘Oh God, that wasn’t even me!’”
