2012 Nissan Versa: New Car Bargain at a Used Car Price

Everyone likes to get a bargain especially in these challenging economic times! It is not about buying something cheap, but getting good value for your money and this goes for transportation.

The 2012 Nissan Versa four-door sedan has been updated and although its price has been hiked a bit, the car has additional standard features. So what does the new Nissan Versa have to offer?

The four-door sedan has a new seeker looking exterior, better gas mileage (rated at 27 city and 36 mpg highway for the five-speed manual and 30 city and 38 mpg highway for the CVT), and a larger 14.8 cubic foot trunk. The car’s wheelbase measures 102.4 inches.

The Versa sedan is offered in S, SV and SL trim levels. The Price starts at $10,990 for the base S model. It includes a 5-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, and AM/FM/CD sound system with an auxiliary jack. The $12,760 S model includes the features of the S plus a CVT automatic transmission. The top of the line SL is priced at $14,560 and includes cruise control, power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, plus trim and upholstery upgrades (no leather is available). Options on the SL include alloy wheels, fog lights, Bluetooth connectivity, and additional interior trim

The new Versa is powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine providing 109 hp and 107 ft. lb. of torque. The new car is 150 lbs. lighter than the last model. The Versa’s 0-60 mph time is in 9 seconds and its top speed is 108 mph.

The car’s 60-0 mph braking is in 132 feet. The Versa’s tire size is 185 65 15 inch.

On the inside this Nissan has some hard plastic surfaces, however, the controls are very straight forward and easy to operate. Cupholders are numerous throughout and the glove box is large. Additionally, the front seats are comfortable and the rear has more legroom than a Mercedes E-class. Thus, six footers sit comfortably in the back seat.

The Versa’s handling is nimble and it does well in unban driving environments. On the highway the continuously variable transmission (CVT) helps to quiet interstate cruising and allows reasonable long distance traveling.

In summary, the 2012 Nissan Versa sedan offers good fuel economy, acceptable acceleration and drivability, good passenger and cargo room, and excellent value for the money.

In these tight economic times the 2012 Nissan Versa might be a good transportation bargain for you!
