WWE Legends of Wrestlemania PS3 Video Game Review

The WWE and THQ team up and made Legends of Wrestlemania that asks the question. Who is the greatest of all time at Wrestlemania? Which era of wrestling was better? The game was released in 2009 and it came out for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It has a teen rating, but I think this game was more geared to the older wrestling fans. I don’t think kids today know who most of these guys are anyway. Up to 4 people can play. When it first came out it was 50 dollars. Now you can pick one up brand new for 20 dollars at any game store. If you get it used there price ranges from 10 to 15 dollars.

The plot of the game is you can play as the legends from Wrestlemania 1 to 15 in exhibition that has all the gimmick matches. Such as a tag team, the ladder, steel cage, hell in a cell, royal rumble, etc. There is the Wrestlemania tour. In this tour you can relive, rewrite, or redefine classic matches. You can also see vintage highlights of the buildup and of the matches itself. There is also a legend killer mode. In this mode you can create your own legend and “kill” all the legends in different tiers. There is a lot to unlock in the tour and the legend killer. You can unlock different attire of the wrestlers, medals that you have to earn, and trophies. There are 20 trophies in this game to unlock.

The controls are easy but it can get be dull after awhile. The wrestlers for the most part have the same moves until you improve your chain level. I give the controls a 7/10.

The graphics are superb and the sound is quite good, The only time the game got fuzzy though for me is playing the royal rumble, Other than that I’ve had no problems. I give it a 7/10

The roster for the most part is good but majorly flawed. The commentary is done by Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. They do good but after awhile it can be annoying. So for both I give it a 8/10

The replay value for the most part for me is good. Cause I grew up watching these guys and that helped a lot. The trophies also helped as well cause there are 20 of them. There’s more silver and gold than bronze which is unheard of for most ps3 game. In total I give it a 8/10

The cons of this game are they left out Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Ricky Steamboat, and Razor Ramon. Randy had a huge impact on Wrestlemania and for him to be left out is outrageous. Ricky and Razor didn’t headline WM, as Randy and Hulk did. They did however have a WM moment. The guys on here like Arn Anderson, Michael Hayes, the Road Warriors. They are legends, but they did not have a WM moment to make them a WM legend. They should of been left off for the above guys that I mentioned. On the highlight reels, they edited out Jesse Ventura’s commentary. I felt that was appalling cause this guy did have a huge part of WM history. It would of been cool that they didn’t edit it out and actually have him do commentary with JR and Lawler.

Overall I give this game a 7.5. For the most part, I did enjoy the game and the experience of actually playing as some of these guys. I think a lot of fans around my age or older would really like the game as well. If it first came out and had I played it I would of said rent it. Now after a few years passed, I’d say pick it up since its so cheap.
