Who Will the White Sox Keep Kenny Williams or Ozzie Guillen

The owner of the Chicago White Sox Jerry Reinsdorf has a tough decision to make. I think he has to part with either manager Ozzie Guillen or Vice President Kenny Williams. I believe that Ozzie will be gone, but I would get rid of Williams.

Ozzie has a big mouth, but the man can manage a team. He has been constantly given players who cannot perform at a high level. Since the 2005 World Series Championship the White Sox have become an arrogant bunch, but none more so than Kenny Williams who it seems feels like he can make any move and it will work out.

Williams spent a lot of money this year and the Sox were all in but the team is now out and someone has to pay. Williams convinced Reinsdorf to go out and sign Adam Dunn to a 4 year, 56 million dollar deal and a few days later to also bring Paul Konerko back.

This is in addition to moves where he traded for Jake Peavy and claimed Alex Rios off of waivers, when he was duped into thinking that Toronto would pull him back off waivers after the White Sox claimed him.

Kenny Williams also has not brought any talent from the minor leagues lately. Brent Morel and Gordon Beckham are not exactly lighting it up offensively and it is too early to tell on Dayan Viciedo. Chris Sale seems like a good one but there does not seem like much else.

Ozzie will probably end up in Florida, but I do not believe Williams will be so lucky. Outside of Reinsdorf, I do not think Williams will ever get hired at the V.P level by anyone else again. His 2005 World Series was built with Ron Schueler’s guys as most of that team’s players were holdovers from “The kids can play” campaign and the 2000 playoff team.

Assistant GM Rick Hahn would probably do a good or even better job in Williams place, but who would replace Ozzie.
