What’s New at Disney in 2012?

With the holidays behind us and 2012 finally here, it’s a great time to look at some of the amazing developments that Disney has in this coming year.

Disney Cruise Line
The Disney Cruise Line is once again expanding their fleet with their newest ship the Disney Fantasy Cruise Ship. The Disney Fantasy is 40% larger than both the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic and will feature amazing pools, restaurants and kids club. Similarly, the Disney Fantasy will feature Magical Portholes in the inside Staterooms with real-time views outside the ship with the occasional animated character flying by (Rapunzel, Mr. Potato Head, or maybe even Flounder from the Little Mermaid).
The Disney Fantasy will be departing from Port Canaveral in Florida, taking guests on 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean Cruises. The Disney Fantasy sets sail in April 2012.
Along with the new Cruise Ship, the Disney Cruise Line will also be offering new Ports and New Destinations in 2012. Guests are now able to set sail from New York to the Bahamas, up along the New England Coast to Canada or to sail out for a weekend at sea. Travel the Western Caribbean from Galveston, Texas or set sail on an amazing tropical getaway to Hawaii or the Pacific Coast from Los Angeles.

Fantasyland Expansion at Magic Kingdom
The Fantasyland Expansion at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is perhaps one of the most exciting things to happen at Walt Disney World in quite some time. The Fantasyland Expansion will be set to open phases starting in 2012 and will be twice the size of the current Fantasyland. The new Fantasyland will feature some amazing new additions including the Little Mermaid ride (also featured at California Adventure in Disneyland), dual Dumbo rides (think, shorter lines for the most popular ride at Walt Disney World), an indoor roller coaster, the Beast’s castle from Beauty and the Beast with new restaurants such as Be Our Guest. The expansion is set to open in phases in 2012.

Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World
Sustain the Disney magic throughout your entire vacation by staying at Walt Disney World Resorts newest addition the Art of Animation Resort. Opening in phases beginning May 2012, the newest addition incites it’s guests to become part of their favorite animated films. With suites transporting guests to Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, there is something offered for everyone.
Family suites are scheduled to open in May 2012 and standard rooms on December 31, 2012.

Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park
With an opening date slated for summer 2012, Cars Land is an exciting new addition to the Disney Parks and will features something fr everyone. Attractions include Luigi’s Flying Tires, Maters’ Junkyard Jamboree or race around on the 6-acre Radiator Springs Racers. Cars Land will also feature both new dining and shopping experiences.

What else is happening at Disney in 2012?

Exotic Driving Experience – The Richard Petty Driving Experience will be offering new experiences to guests in 2012 including ride-alongs in supercars including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi and Porsche. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom – Explore the new interactive experience that will debut early in the year at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. This experience will allow guests to become apprentice sorcerers who can find and defeat villains from their hiding places within the Magic Kingdom. Royal Guest Rooms – Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will be debuting a new line of Disney Story Rooms that will feature regal accents, magical fireworks and other attributes to royal characters from your favorite Disney films. Splitsville – a new 50,000-square-foot entertainment center will be opening in the West Side of Downtown Disney later this year and will feature great family-time activities such as bowling, billiards and dining.
