Lake Barkley State Resort Park Murder & a Meal. Murder mystery fans will love this fall event. Scheduled for the first Saturday evening in October, Lake Barkley State Resort Park hosts its annual Murder & a Meal dinner theater series. The audience will interact with the performers while they chow down on their buffet meal. You’ll be sure to get in the Halloween spirit with this thrilling murder mystery. Tickets are $45. Trigg County Country Ham Festival. Located in Cadiz, Kentucky, the annual Country Ham Festival is set for mid-October and has plans to prepare the most delicious ham around. This fall festival includes activities such as gospel music, bluegrass music, petting zoo, quilts, arts and crafts, games, concerts, and of course lots and lots of ham. Handicapped parking and a shuttle bus is available for visitor convenience. No pets are allowed at this event, except seeing eye dogs.

Columbia Downtown Days (Folklore of the Old West Festival). With a host of fall events lined up for this festival, visitors can expect to have a different activity scheduled for each family member all weekend long. One of the most anticipated events at this festival is the James-Younger Bank of Columbia Robbery reenactment scheduled for high noon on Saturday. Other scheduled events include kiddie train rides, adult big wheel races, live music, 5K run, rock wall climbing, inflatables, children’s parade, ping-pong tournaments, vendors, food and much more. The Columbia Downtown Days is normally scheduled for the second weekend of October and is in Columbia, Ky.

Battle of Leatherwood. Located on Highway 669 in Cornettsville, the Battle of Leatherwood is a reenactment of the original battle fought on Oct. 19, 1862, between the Confederate and Union soldiers. The entire weekend is centered around this event. From a Grand Military Ball to a night artillery fire, this fall event will have history lovers flocking to its opening day and spending the full weekend drenched in historical culture. Earlington Octoberfest. Usually held the first Saturday in October, the Earlington Octoberfest is packed full of fall activities, including inflatables, a car show, live music, food and vendors. There will also be several cook-offs that will include the categories of best pulled pork, best ribs, and best overall pork.
