What could be the difference between a thermometer and a heater? A thermometer measures the heat while a heater actually changes the heat. God wants you to be a heater, not a thermometer!
He wants your friends to be positively influenced by you .your friends in school, at work and at home can help you find your identity, to deal with life, to have fun and to avoid loneliness. However, they can also destroy you if you don’t choose them carefully!
Choose your company well (psalm1:1) If you walk with the wicked, stand with sinners, and sit with mockers, you’re in danger of being influenced negatively. Then you’ll miss out on God’s offers on blessing, fruitfulness, and prosperity. You’ll simply be blown away, and spiritually or physically, you’ll die.
Rather make sure that your best friends love God and his word. That’s also why God tells us not to date a person who doesn’t follow Jesus. God’s word gets in our face and urges us to choose our friends and life-partner well! Do not be misled, bad character corrupts good morals (1corinthians15:33).
Note that the moment you stop influencing others for the good, they start influencing you for the bad. Find a crew of friends that love God and lead godly lives. Connect with them!
