Top 5 XBOX 360 Games This Holiday Season

#5 – Forza Motorsport 4
Forza is arguably one of, if not, the best racing sim out there. It rivals Gran Turismo in realism and has beautiful picture-like graphics that bring players into the game and lets them drive the cars of their dreams. Forza 3 blew gamers away with its exemplary graphics and spot-on controls. The few problems that Forza 3 had came in the form of a few bugs/glitches. In Forza 4 all of these have been fixed and they’ve tweaked the game to near-perfection. Add the ability to utilize Kinect for head-tracking in game and new modes (such as bowling with your favorite cars) and you have one heck of a game coming October 11th.

#4 – Gears of War 3
When it comes to XBOX exclusive franchises, ones mind either goes immediately to Halo or Gears of War. Both of these amazing franchises have taken gaming to the next level with amazing campaigns, never-ending enemy killing modes (Horde and Firefight), and ultra-competitive multi-player experiences. Gears 3 plans to take one of the most successful gaming franchises on the market and tighten the levels, balance the multi-player, and improve the all-around experience. The campaign is taking the story in bold new directions that add to the excitement of the player, as Marcus Fenix and the rest of the surviving humans struggle to stay alive, fighting all they can to stop the Locust Horde. This game looks to be one of the best experiences to be had on the 360 so consider it when doing holiday shopping this season. The game comes out September 20th.

#3 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
The #1 complaint people have about COD: Modern Warfare 2 was the online balancing issues. Overpowered guns, perks, and killstreaks ruined the game for many an online FPS fan. Luckily those people will be glad to know that the good folks over at Infinity Ward have taken all feedback and criticism to heart, and have made Modern Warfare 3’s multi-player the most balanced yet. Anyone who played the COD 4 or Modern Warfare 2 campaign can tell you that the story is always grasping and the action is always exhilarating. This time around players will follow Delta Squad as they try to stop the Russians from invading and destroying the United States. Gamers also get to experience the stories of John Price and Soap MacTavish, two former British SAS operatives who after a conspiracy are on the run from… well… everyone. The campaign is brilliant, the multi-player has been edited to perfection, and the new co-op survival mode is sure to excite any and all players. Make sure to check out Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 when it hits store shelves November 8th.

#2 – The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Who doesn’t want a fantasy world of their own, to roam the lands doing whatever their heart desires? That’s the goal for the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In previous Elder Scrolls titles, you’ve had the freedom to go anywhere, to do anything, to be anyone. Skyrim takes this to a whole new level, improving the graphics so that NPCs aren’t just cardboard cutouts, and allowing you to fully immerse yourself in a world of your own. This game is special, its different, you’re never forced to complete a single objective in the game. Instead the developers rely on you to stumble upon lost ruins, hidden caves, and secret treasures throughout your exploration. Skyrim really captures a players imagination and lets them run wild with it, with numerous upgrade-able skills and a whole expansive world to explore, I know I’ll be spending tons of hours on this game. Skyrim is available November 11th.

#1 – Battlefield 3
An exiting campaign putting you on the front lines of battle, a co-op mode to keep you and your buddy entertained, and an extensive 32 player (64 on PC) multi-player mode. Though this game sounds really similar to some other games that have come out recently (most notably Call of Duty) it actually is much more unique then you would think. For anyone who’s played Battlefield: Bad Company 2, you know the set-up. Rule #1: No teamwork, no success. Battlefield 3 takes the Bad Company 2 model and expands on it, adding jets, more unlocks, more equipment, and giving the graphics an incredible over-haul that could make some people confuse screenshots with real-life photos. I actually got the chance to try the game at Gamescom 2011 this year, and let me tell you, I was blown away. The controls had been more refined, the co-op experiance was like nothing I had ever played before, and there’s nothing cooler than flying a jet over an online battlefield. This game excells in all categories and therefore it gets the #1 spot on my list of games to watch for this holiday season. The game comes out on October 25th.
