Tips for Planning a Las Vegas Shopping Trip

Las Vegas shopping trips are almost as popular as gambling trips. As someone that goes to Las Vegas on a regular basis, I have learned that there are methods for planning shopping trips that work better than others. Keep these tips in mind when you are planning your trip to time, money and potential frustration.

Decide Where

Before you leave for Las Vegas, you should have a list of the places that you want to shop. By putting this list together, you force yourself to look up the various shopping locations online. Some of the best places to research where to shop are the Las Vegas Vistor’s Guide and AtoZ Las Vegas. By planning where you want to shop, you can set an itinerary for yourself so that you can make sure that you hit every location that you want to.

Know When

While many of the shopping areas in Sin City are open 24 hours a day, most are not. When you are looking up the location online, make sure that you take note what time each location is open. By doing so, creating your itinerary will be much easier.

Know How Much

As you are looking up where you want to shop, make sure that you get an idea of the prices of each location. One of the outlet malls outside of Las Vegas proper might have Coach bags for half the price that you might spend on The Strip. You might find an outfit by Kenneth Cole for less at his outlet than you would at one of the stores in the Forum Shoppes inside of Caesar’s Palace.

Your Itinerary

Make sure that you create an itinerary for your Las Vegas shopping trip. This helps you to keep your time organized. Make sure that you keep the locations of the stores that you want to shop at. Try to block off your trip in sections so that the stores that you go between are in the same general area. I will usually block The Strip, Downtown and outside of Las Vegas.

If you are going to a mall in Sin City, you do not have to list each store that you want to go to, but you might want to make sure to note if there is a specific store or two that you do not want to miss. I would suggest attaching any maps that you were able to print of the shopping area to your itinerary.

Insider’s Note

If you are planning on getting any type of product with a casino logo on it, do not buy it at a casino’s gift shop. Head to Fremont Street. You will find some small stores there that sell overstock from the gift shops. You might find the exact same shirt or deck of cards for forty to sixty percent off.

Last Tip

If you are going to go shopping at a location that is attached to a casino, try to go into the entrance that is closest to the shopping area. If you walk through the casino, you might get tempted to toss a few dollars in a machine. While this could increase some of the shopping budget, chances are better that it will decrease your funds.
