Terrell Owens and Randy Moss Not Going to the Hall of Fame

According to this article, Owens and Moss aren’t surefire hall of famers, despite their recording setting numbers-both men trail only Jerry Rice in receiving touchdowns. So what’s the criteria for the Hall of Fame if not numbers? Dan Marino never won a super bowl and he played at a position where winning is arguably more important than the stats. Barry Sanders also never won a super bowl and had very limited success in the post season.

And another factor we must look at is just who Moss and Owens had throwing to them. Jerry Rice won 3 rings, but he had a HOF QB throwing to him for most of his career. Between Moss and Owens, Moss is the only one to have played with a HOF QB. And to add to Moss’ HOF accolades, he was the leading receiver on the two highest scoring offenses in NFL history.

If Owens and Moss, with all of their highlights and recoding setting stats aren’t HOF contenders than very few people should be in the HOF. The HOF isn’t reserved for class acts (Michael Irvin and Lawrence Taylor). It’s reserved for the best of the best, and statistically only Rice surpasses Owens and Moss.
