Teen’s Diets

More than likely your teenage child is not eating the foods you feel they should have. Unlike when the teens were young, you can no longer control what they eat when they are not home. You may not be able to control what they eat when they are home.

If your teen seems healthy, of normal weight and is energetic it is probably best not to worry. If you have concerns about their health you can only try to offer the best and most healthy foods.

Things To Do:
1. Buy only health foods for the house, because when they are hungry they will eat what is around.
2. Snacks are important to teens so have a lot around. If they love chips, buy whole grain or baked ones.
3. If the vegetables are already cut up and have a tasty dip to go with them, they will indulge.
4. Try to have dinners together if possible. And offer vegetables and protein choices that they like.
5. Include the teens in making choices for all foods. If you can get them to go to the grocery store with you.
6. Mention about the benefits of certain foods when they apply to something they want in their lives or to achieve.

Things Not To Do:
1. Nag them about what not to eat.
2. Lecture about what to eat
3. Don’t make an issue about food
