Sundance Film Festival 2012

Sundance Film Festival 2012, takes place on Jan.19 – 29 in Park City, Utah. The festival is the largest independent film festival in the US.

The filmmakers at the festival are known to be more off the beaten path, eclectic in nature, risk takers and telling stories they want to tell, rather than conforming to Hollywood stereotypes. It is after all, a festival of filmmakers and what they bring to the screen.

While Hollywood celebs still play a major roll to provide the glitz and glam to the festival, Founder, Robert Redford continues to keep the focus on fresh talent from the indie world.

Sundance program director, Trevor Groth told KSL TV “There are world Class films submitted to us on par with any festival in the world right now. I think international film making are looking at Sundance as a premier place to launch films, and not just Cannes or Berlin anymore. Which says a lot for the Sundance Film Festival.”

The Festival announced today that America’s financial woes command center stage in the film line up this season:
“Detropia” is all about depressed Detroit.
“Finding North” focuses on poverty and hunger
“We’re Not Broke”, targets big corporations with high profits overseas.
“The Queen of Versailles”, a couple’s story of building a house that falls victim to fore closure.

US Drama, World Cinema Drama, US Documentary and World Cinema Documentary.
