Spring 2012 Style Roundup for Women’s Workwear

Just because you’re going to work, it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy fashion as much as anyone else. Luckily for the fashion-conscious career woman this spring, there are a lot of key trends that translate well to the office. These looks are designed to be practical and professional.

Bright Bags

Many of the spring trends rely on muted colors. The way to make your outfit pop is to walk into the office with bright accessories. If you want to add a splash of bright color but still look professional, you can choose a classic bag in a show-stopping color. Victoria Beckham’s bright orange bag is on my unaffordable wish list, but orange is going to be a big office trend this spring so lots of high street stores will make more affordable copies. If a big bag is too in-your-face for your office style, consider a simpler orange clutch or wallet.

Shades of White

Have you ever heard the rumour that Inuits have dozens of words to describe snow? Get ready to expand your own vocabulary of all things white this spring. Not only is white a key office trend for spring 2012, but white is in with all of its variances. Chanel’s 2012 line is full of looks that mix pure snow whites with eggshell, ivory, and antique off-white. These colors look crisp and clean and professional, especially the jacket and skirt combos.

Navy

Fashions come and go (and sometimes come and go again), but navy is a timeless color in the office. No matter what kind of an office you work in, navy is classy and professional. I like navy because it is slimming and can wear better than black (not every speck of dust will show up on it the same way). Whether it’s a dress or tailored suit, navy looks good on women of all ages and body shapes. If it’s too dark for your taste, then pair up navy with some white shades for a very professional look that can also be surprisingly feminine. Monotone

Mixing and matching pieces in the same color can create a look that is surprisingly powerful. Add variety by using different textures. Just make sure to stay professional with your color choices. Creating a monotone look in beige or black looks executive, but wearing all purple just makes you look like an annoying dinosaur. Statement Beads

If the actual clothes this spring seem to be in sedate colors, then add some more personality with statement beads. Medium-length beads in a range of materials and colors can completely change the look of your outfit and add a lot of versatility to your wardrobe. Ethnic, retro, and home-made looks necklaces are all on trend for Spring 2012.

Just looking at the season’s hot professional trends like bright orange bags and delicate off-whites makes me want to go on a shopping spree and then get serious in the office.
