Social Security & Medicare Dilemma

Social Security, the grandparent to today’s savings plans, was never intended to fully sustain a person’s livelihood after their retirement, only supplement. Having run a HUD Section 8 facility for seniors (62 years or older) handicapped or disabled, I can attest first hand how none of the Social Security programs leave enough for anyone to live on inclusively for a majority of them, otherwise we would not have had to write housing into law in the first place to give the low income somewhere to live and all that entails.

Although it’s clear that it needs to be revamped, to use it as an election tool is dirty politics, and an attempt to sway the very ones whose wages built it in the first place. That not only constitutes illegal activity called embezzlement (borrowing from another without means to return funds taken) but also senior citizen abuse, by causing fear and unnecessary alarm to the elderly, many who have become weary and confused by all the propaganda they hear; which people attempting to be elected or re-elected know full well, that senior citizens make up the majority number of votes in an election.

Even if Congress could come up with a solution, they must pass a law which cancels continuation of FICA withdrawal from anyone collecting a paycheck, or refund to the penny back to each American who has contributed to the fund.

Why do we always use social security as the ball and chain around our necks instead of what we give to foreign countries, trying to kill us at every turn or don’t have a ghost’s chance of paying us back? And what about all the “pork belly” projects out there, why not cut a host of them? Seems to me, this is needless posturing rhetoric, and nothing’s being done by any side, Democratic, Republican or Independent.

Every election we put our trust in our elected officials, even praying for “change.” Well, we got it alright, we just can’t afford it. As an eyewitness who has seen seniors having to decide whether they are going to eat this week or take their medicines, I beg of you, get off their backs and get serious about wasteful spending before we all become insolvent.
