Preparing to Bathe Puppy
Before taking on a recent pet sitting job, the pet owners told me that I may need to bathe their Bichon Frise puppy if he got too muddy. I did not think that it would be necessary to give him a bath, but after a digging episode that left him caked in mud, I pulled out the supplies and got to work.
Product Description
ProCare Professional Pet Shampoo comes in a 296ml (10fl oz) plastic bottle. According to the product description, this shampoo “Soothes itchy or dry skin while deep cleaning your pet’s coat, leaving it as light and lustrous as a trip to the professional groomer.”
Directions for Use
ProCare Professional Pet Shampoo is simple to use. Wet the cat or dog all over with warm (not hot) water. Then apply a thin strip of the shampoo to the animal’s spine. Massage the shampoo into the coat until it has formed a rich lather, starting from the head, back and then moving down to the legs, feet and other parts of the body. Rinse with warm water and repeat the process if necessary.
Caution
ProCare Professional Pet Shampoo should not be used on pets younger than six weeks of age. When using this shampoo, be careful not to massage it in using your nails, as this will scratch and irritate your pet’s skin.
Does it Work?
ProCare Professional Pet Shampoo lathered up well. It left the puppy in my care smell of the cedar wood, eucalyptus and Melaleuca Oil contained within the shampoo. I was also pleased to see how well the mud came off him. He was spotlessly clean after his bath, which was easy to see, as he is a pure white dog.
Recommendation
Although ProCare Professional Pet Shampoo does not have the scent that I would choose, it did the job well by providing a thorough clean. The puppy was left clean, fresh and his coat was soft and manageable once he had dried off. As a result, I would not hesitate to recommend this product.
