Portia De Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres’ New Restaurant – What’s Next?

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are going to invest together in a new restaurant venture that will cater to vegans. Those that don’t eat any animal products at all will find a new place to eat in the restaurant whose menu will be created by Chef Tal Ronnen, who also happened to cater the couple’s 2008 wedding as well. According to Ellen, she made the choice that same year to adopt the lifestyle after watching a documentary called “Earthlings” in which the food industry is the central focus.

This announcement comes on the heels of the couple deciding together not to have children. The two have said that they feel that they have enough pets in their home that they care for enough living entities as it is. So with the prospect of kids out of the question, what is next for the two?

38-year-old Portia is going to reprise her role as Lindsay Bluth Funke in the reboot of the cult smash-hit comedy “Arrested Development.” Though the show never quite gained traction in the ratings for the three years it was on the air in its initial run, fans were clamoring for a movie based on the country’s most dysfunctional wealthy family, The Bluths, ever since the show was canceled in 2006. Last month the entire cast and the show’s creator Mitchell Hurwitz were on hand to announce that not only would there be an “Arrested Development” movie, but that it would come after a limited-run, 10 episode story arc on television.

For the 53-year-old Ellen, she’s still plugging away on her day time talk show that airs five days a week in syndication. She also just announced that she will be producing a new comedy on ABC called “Weitz and Wong.” The story will center around a mixed-race family of Chinese and Jewish backgrounds and their attempts to find their own identity and culture.

“Weitz and Wong” will be the second big undertaking that Ellen’s production company has taken on in recent months. The company also got behind a dark comedy starring Portia that had four networks battling it out for the rights to broadcast the show. Eventually it was NBC who won the fight. If Ellen can just get a show on CBS and a show on Fox, she’ll have the market cornered!

Oh, and if they weren’t busy enough, they also just recently put their enormous home up for sale, and are asking about $43 million for it. That kind of money would buy a lot of vegetables for their new restaurant!
