My Most Memorable Christmas Memory

It was my son’s first Christmas, my chance to show him off to the rest of the family. To finally be the grandchild in the spot light with the newest great grandchild. Two days before Christmas I went shopping to finish up getting presents, I was over an hour away from home, when it happened. I was riding in the car with my mother and son and the pain started. I felt like I was having a heart attack. The pain in the middle of my chest took my breath away. We got home and I decided to go to the emergency room.

Now knowing all of the staff and what I do know about medical issues I knew that I was not having a heart attack, I was only 25. After tests and medicine they sent me home telling me that I had acid reflux and I needed to rest. That night I woke up in the middle of the night with such pain, this is now Christmas eve, I went to the emergency room again, they scheduled an ultra sound and sent me home with more pain medication.

Christmas morning, I am back in the emergency room, this time they find that I have so many gall stones my liver is backing up and I am turning yellow, being a small hospital I am then transferred to the closest hospital which is about 2 hours away. I miss my baby’s first Christmas and 2 days later I am finally home with him, after having my gall bladder out.

I am sad I missed his first Christmas but he was the star of the show at the families gathering. That is my most memorable memory.
