Moroccan Oil, the Facts

Argan oil is the main ingredient for Moroccan oil; the oil is produced from the kernels of the Argan tree, endemic to Morocco that is valued for its nutritive, cosmetic and numerous medicinal properties. The tree, a relict species from the Tertiary age, is extremely well adapted to drought and other environmentally difficult conditions of southwestern Morocco. The Argan tree grows wild in semi-desert soil, its deep root system helping to protect against soil erosion and the northern advance of the Sahara. Argan oil remains one of the rarest oils in the world due to the small and very specific growing areas.

Argan Oil has the rare benefit of immediate improving hair condition. Whereas conventional hair products merely coat the hair shaft, resulting in temporary glossy locks, the hair absorbs Argan Oil. Argan Oil promotes silky soft hair, prevents moisture loss and adds elasticity and suppleness, but also provides an immediate sparkle and shine. People with fine hair will benefit from the added strength this oil provides, for those with coarse thick hair will see they are left with soft and shiny hair.

Moroccan oil’s Argan oil is harvested under a fair trade program, which provides substantial socio-economic support to thousands of families in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco. Revenue from this project provides income to families and helps improve the working conditions of rural men and women. It is also used for reading, writing and management classes, as well as for modern infrastructure and technology that help make harvesting easier and more efficient, ensuring long-term management of the Argan forest. Moroccan oil is rich in vitamins and natural elements that fortify the hair, including Vitamin F (Omega 6) , Vitamin A to improve elasticity, Vitamin E to protect against free-radicals, and Phenols to shield against environmental stressors.

Carmen Tal first discovered the Moroccan oil Treatment in Israel after a bad colour service. Her sister-in-law took her to a salon that used Moroccan oil and it left her hair soft, shiny, smooth and manageable. She had never had the same benefits anywhere else and set out to learn more because she enjoyed it so much. She discovered that the miraculous product treating her hair was based on argan oil, which women in Morocco have used for centuries to treat their hair, nails and skin. Because Carmen wanted to share its benefits with women around the world, she and her husband, Ofer, set out to make this product available to professional salons and the Moroccan oil brand was born.
