Minecraft is taking the world by storm. If you are a gamer and haven’t heard about Minecraft yet, it just may be your time to get on board. However, you might be wondering, just what is Minecraft?
Minecraft has two goals and these can be taken from the name. First, you mine or gather the resources you need and then you build/craft them into usable items. Ok, so you mine and craft stuff. What’s the point?
In reality, the main point of the game is to survive the night. What’s bad about the night? Monsters such as Zombies, Skeleton Archers, Spiders, and Creepers come out to join the fray. These mobs drop items that can aid you in your crafting. If adventure and excitement are what you’re looking for, Minecraft might be right up your ally.
Many people love the adventure aspect of Minecraft. I’ve gone many hours of game play, just wandering around looking for mobs to kill. There are four different modes you can play on. Easy, Normal, Hard, and Peaceful. Peaceful is a mode that you can use to build stuff without getting mobbed by mobs. Recently, they’ve added Creative mode, which gives you access to every item of the game (great for builders.)
Some people prefer to play the game for the building aspect of it. You can build just about anything you want within the world of Minecraft. When you create a new world, it’ll take some time to load and may cause some initial lag. Just wait a few second for the world to load. You’re first goal is to gather enough resources to build a structure and some torches to survive the first night. You can watch many tutorials on how to survive the first night on Youtube.
This 3D cube sandbox game has such a fan base, that many Youtubers have started Let’s Play series on their channels. xXSlyFoxHoundXx, TheGrimGary, FMIGaming, Wolv21, DurandalOfAegis, VoxelBoxVideos, iJeven, ChimneySwift11, and minecraftwb, are just a few of the many examples of players who upload to Youtube. These are some of the regulars that are watched by many viewers. We can’t forget the most awesome Minecraft player ever and perhaps the most famous of them all. CaptainSparklez. Be sure to check out his Minecraft Parody titled Revenge. It’s a parody of Usher’s DJ Got Us Falling In Love. He actually does a little rap in this one.
There are numerous builds in minecraft, ranging from Temples, to Castles, to Churches, to Dragons. If you look for it, there is even a Star Trek Enterprise build. People have been known to work months on one project. With the new creative mode, it’ll cut that time in half. The game is always being updated, which is a plus. That means new features for players and a ton of new possibilities. The team Mojang, has already made millions off Minecraft. Notch, the creator, initially created the game all by himself. Once he made several million off it, he hired a few more people to help him out, including music composers and graphic artist.
