Mending Hearts

For this rugged heart does still patter
Puttering as only one’s heart can
Waiting to tell the story from within
But this heart is dark,
Enveloped in sin
Not my own though,
But of those who’ve come before
Of those whose careless ways
Caused this heart of mine to break away
It’s lost some where beyond safe,
Floating toward it’s own grave
How could one heart bare such a weight as this
With each new lover came great despair
And even more so, watching them disappear
Oh how I long for the day,
When a real soldier would whisk me away
My knight in shinning armor has road off into the sunset
With a girl he’s never met
Oh, the agony and pain
I feel the envy in my veins
Flowing through my very soul
This old heart of mine found in disrepair
Watching one’s life disappear
I fear this old heart of mine has forgotten the world to be good
As only a broken heart could
What now have I to do
But wait,
And wait some more
Not for a hero,
Not for a Knight,
Not for you
Only for this fight to end
