John Grisham is an Awesome Writer and My Favorite Novelist

Many people are familiar with John Grisham, the writer of many New York Times Bestsellers. I began to be a fan of his while watching the movie, A Time to Kill. John is the author of more than twenty-four novels and short stories. Many of his books have become bestsellers. Film adaptations of his books include The Firm and The Pelican Brief. He was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1977 with a B.S. and he graduated with a law degree from the University Of Mississippi School Of Law in 1983. John Grisham has exhibited leadership and talent in so many different arenas, having been a member of the Mississippi State Legislature from 1983 to 1990 in addition to practicing law. He is married and has two children. He continues to write exciting legal thrillers and exhibits tenacity in the frequency in which he continues to write and publish.

My enjoyment of John Grisham’s writing increased when I read The Last Juror. In this book, John writes in such a witty and suspenseful manner, that it is difficult to put this book down. He has a great sense of humor and this is reflected in the way that he describes the characters in this story and their interesting personalities. In The Last Juror, a 2004 legal thriller, John intrigues us with the story of a young man, Willie Traynor, who becomes the owner of a small newspaper in Clanton, Mississippi right before a brutal murder is committed. John leaves us in suspense, as we read about the trial of the murderer and the eventual murders of some of the jurors in the case. We begin to embrace his fondness of Miss Callie, one of the jurors- the last juror, and her cooking. We feel the warmth of their friendship in this book, as they share their lives and many meals.

While John has mastered the art of writing legal thrillers, he has written books outside of the genre of thrillers, such as the book, A Painted House, which was published in 2001. In this book, John proves that he can venture outside of the sub-genre of legal thrillers to give us a good story. We are pulled in with the fast and intense pace that is exhibited in the film adaptations of his books. The exhilaration of the thrill is a constant as we try to catch our breath and hold on to our seats while reading his books. Grisham writes with passion and enthusiasm. I am sure that all of his fans will agree.
