Jason Blade Announced as Final Particpant in 6th Annual Kowalski Cup Tournament

Top Rope Promotions has announced that the 8th and final competitor in this year’s Kowalski Cup Tournament will be New England wrestling veteran Jason Blade. The 6th Annual Kowalski Cup Tournament takes place on Friday Night October 7th from the PAL Hall in Fall River, Massachusetts.

As the 2007 Kowalski Cup winner, Jason Blade enters the 6th Annual Kowalski Cup Tournament with something to prove. Jason Blade has made it known that he wants to be the first man to acquire the Kowalski Cup for a second time. The only other man in the 2011 tournament that could maneuver this is “Prodigy” Mike Bennett. There may be a friendly rivalry brewing among the two respected competitors. Mike Bennett was the 1st ever Kowalski Cup winner in 2006, however the following year Jason Blade captured the Kowalski Cup by defeating Mike Bennett. If Jason Blade and Mike Bennett make it to the finals, they would both be battling to be the first ever two time Kowalski Cup winner. Could we see a repeat from the 2007 finals?

Jason Blade debuted on the independent scene in 2000. He started wrestling for the New Bedford based Yankee Pro Wrestling and South Coast Championship Wrestling. Those businesses later folded and became the current Top Rope Promotions.

In the last ten years, Jason Blade has traveled all across the nation, wrestling for some of the biggest organizations in the world. Between 2006 and 2008, Jason Blade made several appearances for Ring of Honor. In addition, he is a former Full Impact Pro Tag Team Champion. Blade and his teammate Kenny King defeated The Briscoe Brothers on November 9th 2007.

Jason Blade also spent many years wrestling for New England Championship Wrestling, PWF-NE, Chaotic Wrestling, and East Coast Wrestling Association. He has also worked for Total Non-Stop Action and World Wrestling Entertainment.

The appearance in this year’s Kowalski Cup is a rebirth of sorts for Jason Blade. Blade has spent some time on the injury list after hurting his shoulder. Since his return to Top Rope Promotions, he has struggled to find his place in the ranks. The former main event player has jumped around the mid card for the last several months. A win in the 6th Annual Kowalski Cup would propel Jason Blade back to wear he belongs.

Chance of Winning: Along with Mike Bennett, Jason Blade holds the highest chance of coming out of this tournament as the winner. The 2007 Kowalski Cup winner is easily one of the most versatile performers in New England. Though he has been plagued with injuries as of late, he has shown himself to be made of rubber, bouncing back to the top on several occasions.
