I Have a MOUSE in the House !

After spending all weekend overhauling my HP computer, come to find out the “virus” I thought I had, wound up being a problem with my MOUSE. #!*%@ ! For over a week, whenever I’d use my computer certain programs seemed to lock up at unusual times and it was getting very irritating. When you are trying to get a lot of work done to re-edit and redo books for a new publisher, it isn’t easy when about every minute or two the darn computer would lock up, then, PRESS Control+Alt+Del, to UNFREEZE!!!

I actually did this to redo and finish three of my books to send them over to my new publisher. Took me about three days EACH. I know I had been having a little trouble with the scrolling on the mouse but I’ll be @! if it was the culprit behind all the lock ups. As much as I know about technology, I was for sure some little sucker snuck one in on me to mess up my system again. Well, you live and learn, right?

Didn’t come out losing though, as it gave me the opportunity to clean up my computer and get rid of all the unnecessary crap in it. Took over 12 hours to do a total reinstall and total loading of all the system utilities I use, so you have to know I must have quite a bit of stuff I use. As a prior musician, as a prior person in medicine and as a writer, YEP, a lot of stuff. Also a lot of data disks to go through to upload all the programming, including updates.

Anyway, I’m glad I was WRONG. Seems at my old age, that this happens to me a lot anymore. I’m not as sharp as I used to be and yes, I ADMIT it. Seems I sit on my brains anymore and everything I try to find, is LOST. Even my wife gets on me from time to time for getting angry when I can’t find something I was for sure I left in a certain place. If you are about my age, don’t you just hate that feeling? When I was young I would organize my things in certain places and now that I am old, they are NEVER THERE! That’s not as bad as thinking you know what is wrong when something acts up and you spend countless hours, even days working on something and come to find out it was something very SIMPLE, like a “mouse?”

Aw, well, better luck next time, right? Or should I say, better get a check up old man cause your losing your MIND! A simple mouse, and I thought I had a virus wasn’t the problem two years ago when my system went berserk. On that assumption, was the reason I went all out to overhaul the computer. Thing is I also had my DVD disk writer give out a week BEFORE the mouse began to act up. Two plus two equal four, eh? Not in this case. What IS the case, is a computer that has seen it’s better days and am lucky that it is still WORKING.

I had to lay off my Gateway when I got this computer four years ago. Believe it or not, that computer still works better than this one. Except for the fact it runs on Windows ME, slow as a two year itch, I am still able to use that machine to overhaul any computer that breaks down. AND IT WON’T BREAK DOWN ITSELF! Runs like a turtle, but it takes a licking and keeps on ticking, WHILE this HP needs constant maintenance. But then the Gateway hasn’t been working everyday now for the last four years while the HP “has.”

Thought I’d give all of you who read my previous article “Someone love me, someone cares” the low down on whether I succeeded with the overhaul and the “virus.” It’s all “hunky-dory” and working FINE……….,and as for the bad “mouse?”It no longer has a HOUSE!
