How to Wear Leopard This Winter

High heels or flats, blouse or sweater, pants or skirt, getting dressed in the morning can be a daunting task. Factor in the cold winter temperatures, and you’ve given yourself a serious headache (before you’ve even gotten to work!). Luckily, there is a glamorous yet easy solution to put and end to the madness.

Leopard print is back with a bang this winter, so why not wake up a drab winter wardrobe and incorporate an uber glam leopard piece? Not only is leopard print fun, but it’s affordable and more accessible than ever. Not sure where to begin? Marie Claire Fashion Director and Project Runway judge Nina Garcia makes rocking this look a snap by sharing fashion editor-approved tips in her book, The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own.

Wearing animal print, says Nina, is a chance to be fearless with your wardrobe (while keeping a few simple rules in mind, of course). A good rule of thumb is to only wear one animal-printed item at a time, in order to keep your look as chic as possible. Also, try styling leopard pieces with neutral colors rather than bold hues (Nina suggests black, white, camel and khaki).

Still not sure where to begin? Here are a few suggestions to help inspire your quest:

Faux Fur Cheetah Jacket by Ann Taylor Loft: This jacket is so hot, it’s sold out online. But don’t worry, it’s likely your local Ann Taylor Loft will have a few in stock (if you’re lucky and speedy that is).

Current/Elliott “The Stiletto” Leopard Print Stretch Jeans: These jeans are seriously sexy. Sara Jessica Parker, Katie Holmes and Fergie have all been spotted in this daring denim.

Shiny Leopard Bomber by Topshop: Slightly reminiscent of your high school boyfriend’s letter jacket yet oh-so-fab; this chic nostalgic piece is definitely trendsetter-approved.

So don’t be shy – go ahead and unleash your inner sex kitten! And remember, as the ever-fabulous Nina Garcia says: “The truly fashionable are always daring and never dull.”
