How to Make Homemade Ghost Decorations

Portland is full of haunted places, so naturally ghosts are a part of many Portlanders’ Halloween decorations. Not only are they easy to make, but they can be made in various sizes as well. These simple decorations can even be done by the kids.

You Need:

Several pieces of cheesecloth in various sizes Lollipop, orange and golf ball Small bowl with water Black permanent marker

1. Choose the first size you want your ghost to be. You are going to be using these round items to create your ghosts with.

2. Wet your cheesecloth by dipping it into the bowl of water. Make sure that the whole piece of cheesecloth gets wet.

3. Drape the cheesecloth over your round object of whatever size you selected. You may need to use a couple pieces of the cloth depending on how big the holes of the meshing are. Ultimately it is your ghost so it can look however you like.

4. Once your cheese cloth is draped how you would like it, allow it to sit on its round object until it dries and is hard to the touch. Once the cheesecloth is hard, remove the lollipop, orange or golf ball from underneath the “ghost”.

5. Using your black permanent marker, draw on a spooky face. You can now hang your ghost in the window or place it somewhere inside the house.

6. Repeat the process with the remaining pieces of cheesecloth until you have the amount of ghosts that you want.

Notes:

These ghost decorations will not stand to be outside. If they get wet they will lose their shape and just look like white pieces of cloth.
