People with piercings are often judged by the way they look, especially at work. Those with visibly pierced body parts are often discriminated against by certain businesses because they do not fit the mold set by society. Those that are hired must find ways to hide their facial embellishments to avoid reprimands and even job loss. Pierced ears are considered acceptable by mainstream society, but pierced lips, noses and cheeks are not. It is possible to hide piercings at work without taking them out. My son works at a major fast food restaurant chain, and lip and other visible and unusual body piercings are not allowed. Use Small Fabric Adhesive Bandage Patches to Hide the Jewelry
The first method my son used to hide his piercings at work was effective, but it was not the best solution. He cut the adhesive ends of fabric bandages into small pieces and used them to hide the piercings. From a distance they were barely visible. Someone that did not know him would not realize that he was trying to hide his piercings at work. It looked as if his lip had been cut while shaving.
Buy Clear Jewelry to Keep the Holes Open
Bandages can come off much easier than jewelry, and when my son was promoted to a management position, he had to find another way to hide his facial piercings. He purchased clear jewelry to use at work. The visible portions are made from what appears to be clear plastic. From a short distance away, the jewelry is not visible at all. It is by far the best option for anyone wanting or needing to hide piercings at work, and it can be found online or in stores that sell a wide variety of body jewelry.
Pack a Lip Piercing with Petroleum Jelly When Necessary
When lip piercings must be removed because clear jewelry or bandages are not available or acceptable, pack the piercings with petroleum jelly. My son was given this advice after having his lip pierced by a professional. A lip piercing is not the same as an ear piercing. It will not begin to immediately close up. The petroleum jelly will help keep it lubricated and open until the jewelry can be worn again.
