How to Have Fun Quitting Smoking

I could offer you every detail and scare tactic related to cigarettes known to mankind, but who cares? Honestly, these techniques only caused me more stress and encouraged me to smoke more. My goal is not to tell you that you are choking yourself or that you will die of cancer. This article has nothing to do with death or illness. This article is about living and freedom.

Step 1. Do Not Tell A Soul

Do not tell anyone you are quitting. This applies to both nonsmokers and smokers. Smokers are more likely to scoff at your newfound lifestyle, which risks lowering your confidence in quitting. Nonsmokers are likely to do the same with more threats of death and illness. Your aim is not to focus on illness. Your aim is to focus on celebrating your health. Wait at least a month after you are set free, then feel free to announce on the social networks your heart desires.

Step 2. Have a Ritual

I always hated it when people suggested I quit smoking by just quitting smoking. There was always a feeling that I needed something “more” to give me a push into the life of becoming a nonsmoker. I had to have a ritual. I knew that after quitting smoking, the drowsiness would wear off after a few days. I was about to feel refreshed! I knew that soon my sense of smell would be returning. The lingering smell of cigarettes was the last thing I would want to smell while celebrating my newly rejuvenated life. Therefore, I cleaned everything possible in my home. It was such a joy to truly start from fresh. Not to mention, the smell of lavender and vanilla was a delightful alternative to the stench of stale tobacco. After I was finished, I threw my last pack in the garbage.

Step 3. Enjoy Tasting and Smelling Everything

After 48 hours of quitting smoking, nerve endings that have been damaged from smoking will regrow. This is when your sense of taste and smell increase. Use them. I don’t mean to stuff your face with cookies and candy. After all, you are becoming healthier. Enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables for snacking. You might even discover that your cooking smells and tastes better than you had thought. Or worse. Either way, have fun with it.

Step 4. If You Don’t Want To Exercise, Play.

After 72 hours of quitting, your newfound lungs functionality will begin to increase. Cool, right? Celebrate them! The best way to increase the endorphins is to exercise. For some people, exercise sounds boring and like work. For those people, try to play. Whether you choose tennis, swimming, hockey, basketball or running around in the yards with your children, they are all excellent alternatives. Enjoy being able to breathe and run like the wind. You deserve it.

Step 5. Do Everything You Can To Enjoy Your Existence

Continue to think positive. You’re a free bird now! Life will deliver you challenges, so climb over them. Play a game. Write a book. Bake a cake. Smile. Enjoy your accomplishments and feel free to reward yourself. Remember: The craving for a cigarette only lasts three to four minutes, whether you smoke or not. Skip the cigarette, and have fun for those four minutes, and love the many that will follow.
