How Stay at Home Moms Can Get Healthy Physically and Mentally

When it comes to getting healthy and staying that way it can certainly seem like a challenge for moms. With kids in tow, and busy schedules in order to try and maintain the household it seems almost impossible to find time to make it to the gym. After speaking with several stay at home moms, I have found that many including myself, not only want to get healthy physically but mentally as well. Being around children all day can really put a strain on you mentally. Below you will find five ways you can get healthy physically and mentally.

Plan a walk

You can start by planning a walk to the park with your little ones. Or if you don’t live near a park you can take a nice stroll through the neighborhood. You can find other moms in your area, who are also looking to get a little exercise. Planning a walk with moms will also give you a change to chat with other mothers about your day. Remember that no one understands what a stay at home mom goes through like another stay at home mom.

Exercise DVD

Nowadays there seems to be a large selection of exercise DVD’s to choose from. While your kids are taking a nap you can spend thirty minutes to an hour. Or you can choose to work out in the morning or in the afternoon. Being able to work out in the comfort of your own home really does make all the difference. If you don’t like to work out at home, than you can invite a few other moms over a few days a week to work out with you.

Put your steps to good use

If you have steps in your home, you can put them to good use. Just walking up and down those steps for about fifteen minutes in the morning, and another fifteen in the afternoon can really help you burn those calories.

Form a mommy support group

Often what many stay at home moms need is a good support group. Your mommy support group can check in with each other when it is time to work out. This helps to keep each person accountable on a daily basis for their exercise program.

Go For a bike ride

Nowadays they have plenty of ways that you can take your kids for a bike ride with you. There are carts that you can attach to the back of your bike, or seats for young children to ride in. Just make sure that your child is big enough for the seats, and that they have the proper safety gear. You can get together with a group of moms in your area and you can find a local park you can go riding through.
