Woke up this morning to an orange-brown haze
These fires have been burning for many long days
Will they be able to put out the blaze?
Heaven help the firefighter today
“It looks like a war zone,” I heard someone say
Others call it moonscape, all dead, dark and gray
The ash falls like snowflakes, even miles away
Dear God, please help the firefighter today
Town after town, the fire burns on
The firefighters are out there, some for too long
Dog-tired and weary, but still they move on
Please don’t forget the firefighter today
May they find comfort and strength in Your care
Their courage must take them where no one else dares
Their lives on the line, please be aware–
