Halloween Monster Feet Cookies

There are those who try to gross out their Halloween guests by serving delicious foods which look disgusting. The problem with that is, some people can’t get over the look of a toilet cake, or vomit chip dip, enough to actually eat it. Sure, you want to serve Halloween foods with an eerie theme but the foods don’t necessarily have to be nauseating. There are lots of main dishes, side dishes, desserts, and snacks, which can go along with a scary theme without repulsing the guests. Serve something like monster feet and, you’ll please adults and children, but you won’t gross out anyone.

There are various cookies which would work well for making monster feet Halloween treats. Nutter Butter cookies, made by Nabisco, are especially suitable. With something of a figure 8 shape, the cookies are a sandwich type, and the cream filling has a peanut butter taste. Another choice for making the monster feet might be ladyfingers or ordinary sandwich cookies.

Use green candy melts to give the monster feet their color. The melts are available in the candy-making section of a large craft store or can be ordered online. Follow the instructions on the package of candy melts to melt them in a deep bowl. The bowl should be at least as deep as the cookie is long.

Lay wax paper or parchment on a cookie sheet. Hold one of the Nutter Butter cookies by the very end, covering as little cookie as possible with your fingers, and dip it into the green candy. Lay the cookie on the wax paper. Use a spoon to scoop up a bit of the melted candy and spread it over the area which was covered by your fingers. Do the same to all of the cookies.

Use cashew halves to make the claws of the monster feet. The candy will need to set up for a couple of minutes before it is stiff enough to support the cashews. Place the curved part of the cashew half against one end of the Nutter Butter cookie and press it into the green candy frosting. Align three cashews, with small spaces between them, to finish the monster foot cookie.

You don’t absolutely have to use green candy melts to make the monster feet; you can use black, brown, yellow, or another choice. You’d better make quite a few of the monster feet, though, because, since they don’t repulse anyone, they’ll be gobbled up in no time.
