Halloween is just around the corner and it is the perfect time to be looking for the best Halloween movies for kids. Today, too many movies are made to scare the pants off of kids. Best Halloween Movies for Kids

Spookly the Square Pumpkin (2005). This movie not only is great for Halloween, but teaches kids it is okay to be different. Sometimes being different can make the best movie ever. Barney’s Halloween Party (2001). Barney and his friends put on a great production in one of Barney’s best holiday movies. Lots of great songs and dances the kids will love. You’ll even learn some great new Halloween crafts you and the kids can make at home. Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular (2008). A funny movie with just the right amount of spooky. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (2005). Pooh and the gang are together again in this soon to become a classic Halloween children’s cartoon. Witches in Stitches (2004). Humorous story about three sisters who are witches. One of the sisters accidentally gets turned into a pumpkin. Makes for a great Halloween movie as the other two sisters have to figure out a way to turn her back to normal. Double Double Toil and Trouble (2003). Starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. When the girls’ parents have to ask for money from an aunt, they get more than they bargain for. Some parts of this movie may be a little spooky at times for smaller children, but once they see it they realize that it is a movie they want to see again and again. Wishbone in The Legend of Sleepy Hallow (1998). Starring Wishbone, a Jack Russell Terrier, as Ichabod Crane in a classic remake of the original The Legend of Sleepy Hallow.

Best Halloween Specials for Kids

Sesame Street: Elmo Says Boo! (2002). Very cute Halloween special for all ages. Even adults find themselves singing along or cracking some of the silly jokes in this show. Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: Wubbzy Goes Boo! (2009). True to the Wubbzy we all know and love. Halloween is Grinch Night (1989). The Grinch is up to his usual antics in this classic Halloween special. Franklin’s Halloween (2009). This 60 minute Halloween special follows Franklin and Bear as they create Halloween costumes and must face the haunted house at Mr. Mole’s house. Walt Disney Cartoon Classics: Halloween Haunts (1994). A terrific cartoon for all ages. This is a video packed full of short classic cartoons about Halloween. Expect nothing less than Disney.
