Great Escape

A secluded resort in central Vietnam offers fantastic scenery, total privacy, and every luxury.

Imagine talking a plane to Nha Trang in Central Vietnam, a drive along winding roads, and a gleaming boat through clear waters under the cloak of night. Getting to Ninh Van Bay requires all three, and your journey has only begun.

The Six Senses Hideaway, Ninh Van Bay, is located deep in the cervices of a Vietnamese peninsula. Accessible only by water, your journey to the resort, albeit long, is an incredible prelude to the rest of your stay, from the beach; you’re next to a version of nature that includes all your five – star amenities. Your villa is your castle and your gracious host. Everything here is eco-friendly, from the recycled ironwood flooring to the stone footpaths, mosquito nets, and cotton day beds. Few things are left to chance here. As much as 90% of what goes on, you, the guest, will never see. In addition to providing tiny amenities such as sewing kits and toothbrushes, everything from bath salts to notepads and insect – repelling incense are laid out for your convenience. If the sound of the sea isn’t sleep, there is a pillow menu coupled with an evening turndown service that lowers the mosquito net over your bed.

The butler assigned to your villa seems to have the power to read your mind. He or she is your link to the world. He or she is yourself with sunburn; your butler will promptly provide fresh aloe Vera from the resort’s organic garden.

Open to guest are two restaurants and a bar, but the resort offers 10 different dining experiences. We recommend a romantic dinner in the wine cave, or dinning by the rocks on a moonlit night. You will also find a fitness center, yoga, and a world – class spa, all in a peaceful tropical setting.

A chapel is available for weddings as well as other celebrations. It’s quite a feat to tie the knot, however, as guests may need to walk up 160 steps – the very definition of stairway to heaven.

There are six types of villas available. The beach pool Villa, suggested for families with children, is the largest, had two storeys, and ample room. The Hill Top Villas all have similar layouts, with a detached dayroom separated from the bed and bath. The view differs, and the water villas are recommended by most (the most famously private being Water Villa number 5, featured in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2006 Hot List).the Spa Suite Villa is for those who desire complete privacy during their stay, and the Presidential Villa, high on the hills, is in a class of its own.

Pictures do almost no justice; to feel the cool waters, smell the salted freshly grown herbs leaves you bounds above worldly troubles. Coming here, you’ll soon learn the secret of the resort’s name. This is the perfect place to hide away.
