Four Fun Fall Paper Towel and Toilet Paper Roll Crafts for Kids

It’s been raining and pouring the past few days and I thought it would be nice to share some fun fall crafts made with materials parents are likely to already have in the house. Hopefully if you try one or more of these ideas with your little ones you’ll have a great time and build some happy family memories.

Bird Feeders from Toilet Paper Rolls
All you really need to make this recycled craft is an empty toilet paper roll, glue, string or yarn, some colored paper or tissue paper, peanut butter and bird seed. You can make it as directed and pictured here: http://www.creativejewishmom.com/2011/01/toilet-paper-tube-craft-bird-feeders.html or adapt the craft to your little ones’ artistic insights and the materials available in your home. I might make a few of these myself for the feathered friends in our own yard.

Scarecrow from Paper Towel Roll
The directions for this craft are available here: http://www.allfreecrafts.com/kids/tube-scarecrow.shtml and have a lot more supplies required than the bird feeder but you could really paint the tube and then let the kids draw or paint the scarecrow’s features and outfit and make the hat out of paper (or felt, or extra pieces of cardboard or cloth). Just take a look at the template and use your imagination. This would be a fun recycled craft for a rainy day.

Spiders and Bats from Paper Towel Rolls
These spiders and bats look like fun recycled crafts for Halloween and fall. I think you could also make these out of toilet paper rolls, they’d just be sized slightly differently. The directions and photo are here: http://petiteplanet.blogspot.com/2009/10/craft-tuesdiy-with-lisa-lopez-paper.html. Again, while more supplies are called for you really could make a fun craft out of this with even fewer materials. The paper towel or toilet paper rolls, paint, construction paper and glue would be sufficient but you’re only limited by your (or your children’s) imagination. For example, if you make the spider and don’t have pipe cleaners, you could cut the legs out of stiff cardboard and paint them and or add some fuzzy yarn to them.

Hope you enjoyed these ideas and have fun with your recycled fall crafts!
