Final Fantasy VII Remake Information

I’m sure at some point most gamers think back to the past about their favorite games on older platforms. Who doesn’t have the urge from time to time to pick up an older control and relive the good ole days. One of the most talked about retro games in conversations these days is the ever controversial Final Fantasy VII remake which is or isn’t in the works for release depending on the source.

When talking about a Final Fantasy VII remake the obvious pros are that we get a classic game on a new generation console with upgraded graphics. Imagine all the great animations on the old version enhanced with modern graphics on a new generation game system. If marketed properly it would likely sell just as much as some of the newer versions of the game. They have seen some level of success with other ideas along these lines like the Sega collection which featured titles such as Sonic, Streets of Rage and Vectorman.

But as with most things along with the good come the bad as well. That holds true with this Final Fantasy VII remake for several reasons. On the surface it seems like it would be pretty simple to take a game from the past and simply make it work on a different console. I’m sure that developers are at home going yeah easy says the people that don’t do it for a career. It is much like fans sitting in the crowd at a Nascar event telling surrounding people that all they are doing is driving in circles.

The reality of a possible Final Fantasy VII remake is that pretty much all of the game footage and animations would need to be reworked and made from scratch before any official release. The graphics engines are that different from the original playstation to the current consoles. Sure the system interface and storyline could real simply just be brought over but the visuals are where most of the work is put in on video games.

The thing that worries me about a Final Fantasy VII remake is the company taking liberties and changing the game that we all grew to love over the years. I can already imagine a new set of controls and characters changed to be more up-to-date with modern appearances. But like the old saying goes “If it isn’t broke then why fix it?” and the same holds true here with a Final Fantasy VII remake at least in my opinion.

There have been rumors going around that we could possibly see a Final Fantasy VII remake release coming out in 2012. The developers of the original game have called these nothing but that rumors. On the other hand some big names in the game industry have said that they have been slowly working on it over the years. Who knows when or if we will ever get this title on a new console but when it happens just cross your fingers and pray that it remains as great as the original role-playing classic.
