Fan’s Reaction:Manchester United Draw Level on Points with City Rival

It is not yet ‘squeaky bum time’ of the season but the blue half of Manchester is feeling pressure.Having knocked their ‘noisy neighbours’ out of the FA cup last Sunday, United made another statement of intent as they drew level on points at the summit of English Premier League.Manchester United took full advantage of the fixture that saw City not playing until Monday by blowing away a Bolton wanderers side 3-0 in the Theatre of Dreams. An opener by the returning Scholes and goals apiece by Welbeck and Carrick completed a routine win for the champions of England.

Here are my observations from the win against Bolton.

Ginger Prince still has it.
Paul scholes retired from football at the end of last season and it left many surprised. He still could control over 80 percent of the games he played in and dictate their pace at the highest level, but you had to respect the decision of the man after all he is known to stand by his decisions and he has more than once turned down opportunity to return playing for the Three Lions. His second coming has been nothing but a blessing to an injury depleted Manchester United midfield. He is not just filling gaps but controlling midfield as he used to.His return has had a positive effect on the whole team and remarkably players such as Antonio Valencia and Michael Carrick have notched up their tempo too.Against Bolton he was at it again passing their midfield to death and capped his performance with a goal.Credit to Scholes it is as if he has never been away.

Fans can now sing Welbeck’s name.
This is a local lad who is fast making a name for himself.Having scored two goals and winning two further penalties in the last two games Welbeck is repaying faith shown by his manager and he is doing so in a fashion. It is evident that he did benefit from the season long loan at Sunderland and he is becoming one of the most feared marksman in the league. He gave Bolton defenders a torrid afternoon with his pace, strength and intelligent play as he linked well with Valencia and Rooney. He did score and was fouled for a penalty that was later squandered by Rooney.United are spoilt for choices up front with Berbatov and Chicharito all waiting to get a game but at the moment Welbeck deserves his place in the team.

Over reliance on wing play is a risk.
Sometimes score lines flatter to deceive, that was the case against against Bolton until Scholes scored the opening goal just in time before the half time.Manchester United’s play has always been fashioned on pacey and skilful wingers who take on defenders or cross the ball first time in the box for the lurking strikers. However,it becomes predictable against teams with a game plan.Against Bolton Nani’s play was restricted and he was eventually substituted. What is needed is more penetration from the middle to compliment wing play.
