Fall Festivities in and Around Lynchburg, VA

Autumn is here and so is harvest season! Want some ideas for fun things to do with your family or with your friends? How about some apple picking, a visit to a pumpkin patch, a hayride in blue ridge country, and a corn maze? Here are five local farms to get you started! You can take your pick!

Gross’ Orchard
Gross’ Orchard is located in Apple Valley, VA near Madison Heights. It is 15 minutes from Lynchburg.

What is offered:

Apple and peach picking Wagon Rides: Mon-Sat – 12am-5pm Festival in mid-October: food, entertainment, crafts, vendors Blacksmith on site

Drumheller’s Orchard
Drumheller’s Orchard is located in Lovinston, VA, about a 40 minute drive from Lynchburg, VA.

What is offered:

NOTE: They do not offer Pick-Your-Own.

Apples: Drumheller’s is famous for their delicious apples. 18 different kinds of apples. Prime picking time: late August-early November. Peaches: 9 different kinds of peaches. Prime picking season is anytime from mid-July to late-August. Apple Festivals: When? Last weekend in September and third weekend in October. Activities offered: Hay ride, pumpkin patch, apple sling shot, face painting, corn maze, music and food vendors.

Morris Orchard
Morris Orchard is a mere 15 minutes from Lynchburg.

What is offered:

Dickie Bros. Orchard is located in Roseland, VA. It is about a 40 minute drive from Lynchburg.

Layman Family Farms
Located in Blue Ridge, VA about a 50 min. drive from Lynchburg.

What is offered:

Pick-Your-Own-Pumpkin Patch: Take a hayride to the 40 acres of pumpkin patch offered! Corn Maze: 10 acre corn maze. Get ready for an adventure and try not to get lost! Have we passed this piece of corn before? Activities also included in $10 admission are (specifically geared for children): Jumping pillow, corn cannon & pumpkin blaster, beale mine shaft tunnel slide, corn crib, hay jump, corn snake play area, rubber duck races, and no left turn pumpkin maze Haunted Harvest Cornfield: starting in October, 8pm-11pm.
