Democrats Vote Down Obama Jobs Act

The new $447 billion stimulus plan proposed by President Obama has gone down in flames after a vote in the Democrat heavy Senate.

The bill, ironically named the American Jobs Act of 2011, has been blocked from the Senate floor by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-AZ) since it’s introduction, all the while Obama toured the country parroting “Pass this bill.”

This bill is another attempt by Obama to exert control over the private sector, choosing which industries succeed and which ones fail. Solyndra proves his picks are one and the same.

Obama had repeatedly called Republicans obstructionists, claiming they were blocking a bill that the President’s own party failed to introduce.

Republicans called for the bill to be introduced several times.

Reid accused Republicans of wanting to embarrass the President by voting on his bill, as written by the President. It’s no wonder why the bill failed, and the President’s own party voted against it. If merely voting on the bill would have embarrassed the President, apparently, what would passing it do?

In the end, the bill failed 50-48. There are 47 Senate Republicans, 51 Democrats and 2 Independent Democrats.

The official vote tally has not been released as of this writing.

White House correspondence reveals that Obama “stressed he would act even without congressional approval of his whole jobs bill — fed agencies are “scouring” bill to find efforts that can be done administratively, and could approve planks piecemeal as well.”

Why would he let the will of the people or the Constitution stop his efforts? He didn’t with Obamacare.

In his speech today in Pittsburgh, Obama said of the Senators, “I think they’d have a hard time explaining why they voted no on this bill other than the fact that I proposed it.”

If this is the case, the [Democ]rats are leaving the sinking ship.
