Dallas Cowboy’s Fan Season Journal Entry #7

The Unbeaten Detroit Lions, yes you read that right, nobody has beaten the Lions yet. The Vikings should have, but they choked. No really they choked, they were up 20 to nothing, and lost. What else can you call that. Don’t get me wrong, they are up and coming. They play offense, at least Stafford and Johnson play pass and catch for touchdowns. Running the ball, maybe not so much, yet.
Defensively, that line can get after a quarterback, 8 sacks so far in three games. They have 4 interceptions, and have recovered 5 fumbles, but not so good against the run. They are giving up 5 yards per carry so far this year. That is probably because they rush the quarterback so hard they don’t see the runner go by.
This record of the Lions, it is all smoke and mirrors. The Cowboys are going to slaughter them. I don’t rarely make a statement like that, but if you look at this honestly, no other choice is reasonable. Vegas has Dallas by 1 to 1.5, very low in my opinion.
Looking at the quarterbacks they have faced this year, Freeman with Tampa Bay, Cassel with Kansas City, and McFumble, I mean McNabb with Minnesota. 78.1, 44.5, 86.7, these are the quarterback ratings for those guys, Tony Romo could do that with a broken rib, wait he has been. Twice this season he has been over 100, only against the Redskins has he been under 80, and the Boys won. The way Felix Jones has been going, he could have 150 on the ground against the Lions. The Cowboys will win big, they will break the streak of game being decided by 3 or less at 9. My prediction, 37-24 Dallas.
On a sidenote, the first playoff game I ever went to was against the Detroit Lions, December 26, 1970.
The Cowboys won 5 to 0, Mel Renfro preserved the victory with a late interception. The Cowboys went on to lose SuperBowl V that year.
