Coffee Bag Flower Jewelry and Home Accents

If you buy coffee in bags, rather than tins, you’ve got it going on! Those bags can easily become the most gorgeous flowers, which you can use to make many different jewelry and home accent pieces. Since coffee bags can be quite colorful, and really shiny, they’re perfect for giving a floral accent to things you already have.

Cut the bottom off of the coffee bag, and then cut up one side, and open the bag into a flat sheet. Wipe the bag with a damp cloth to make sure there are no grounds on it.

Make circles on the bag and cut them out. You can use a stencil or even draw around an object you already have. You’ll need eight circles for each flower. Cut out the circles with regular scissors or, for a slightly different look, cut them out with pinking shears. You could also use a punch to create perfect circles every time. For each circle, fold it in half, then again, then once again. Use a single stitch – right at the point – to hold the shape.

Arrange the little, flat cones in a circle shape – eight per flower. Place the cones so that their tips are all touching. Cut a felt shape to be a tad smaller than the circle of coffee bag flower petals. Use hot glue to attach the petals to the felt. Don’t have any coffee bags? Cut the circles from gift wrap, scrapbook paper, or another type.

Thread embroidery floss or regular thread in and out of the holes of a button to make it look like it’s been sewn. Draw around the button onto fabric or lace but, when you cut out the circle, make it a little larger than the button. Glue the side of the fabric that’s drawn on to the top, center of the flower petals. Glue the button onto that. Make a more dazzling flower by gluing a large rhinestone in the middle of the flower, rather than a button.

The finished coffee bag flowers can be used in many ways. They can be attached to picture or mirror frames, lampshades, baskets, head bands, hair ties, belts, purses, shoes, hats, and more.

To make jewelry from the coffee bag flowers sew or glue them onto a piece of cord, fabric, or other material. Use a single flower to make a choker, several tiny flowers to make a bracelet, or create your own design. The flowers are shiny, colorful, fun to make, really cheap, and look fantastic.
